RE: The Show MO Act
Dear (Assembly Member/Senator) (Last name),
My name is (your first and last name) and I am a supporter of bringing more the film industry to Missouri via the Show MO Act who resides in your district.
(State why you support bill or other issue here. Choose up to three of the strongest points that support your position and state them clearly. Here are three we provide, feel free to use them)
The U.S. entertainment industry is concentrated in New York City and Los Angeles—while a cluster of smaller hubs are scattered in states and cities throughout the country. Missouri has more than 11,000 * professionals
working in the motion picture and commercial production industry. Its colleges and universities offer 38 film and digital media programs to future industry and community leaders.
Entertainment is a manufacturing industry that serves as an economic driver in both the short- and long-term. But tight production budgets require producers to search for the most cost-friendly filming locations, and incentives help secure these productions. In turn, these productions secure jobs and dollars. And not just for the film industry befits, hotels, car rentals, bars and restaurants, hardware stores, lumber, electricians, construction, catering, housewares, antique stores, security services, printing and sign services, and more also benefit, plus all that sales tax goes to the state too.
HBO TV series Sharp Objects by Kansas City native Gillian Flynn, who is also producer for the series, starring Academy Award-nominated actress Amy Adams and directed by Emmy winner Jean Marc Vallee. The series filmed in California and Georgia, even though it is set in Missouri. The show debuted in 2018. Ms. Flynn and the producers are willing to give testimony for a film incentive program for Missouri. Average direct spend-- $350,000/day in Georgia. Why are we losing out on that money just due to bad policy?
(Include a personal story if you can. Tell your representative why the issue is important to you and how it affects you, your family, and your community.)
I want you to vote for the Show MO Act. Please let me know your stance on this issue, I hope you support this important economic bill too.
Film in Missouri is good for all of Missouri.
Sincerely, YOUR NAME
